How to Talk About Racism: An Opportunity for Wrexham
Show Racism the Red Card roadshow – Tuesday 24 November 2026

How do we talk about racism in a way that challenges prejudice, encourages understanding and helps bring communities together?
It is a question that matters to TCC and sits at the heart of our Belonging in Our Community campaign.
TCC is sharing an invitation from Show Racism the Red Card, which is bringing its How to Talk About… roadshow to Wrexham this November. The morning event aims to build confidence, provide practical guidance and help people have honest, meaningful conversations about racism and anti-racism.

Why this matters to TCC
Through our Belonging in Our Community campaign, TCC is working to strengthen the sense of belonging between people and communities across Wrexham.
We want to challenge the idea that people from different backgrounds are somehow separate from one another, or that our differences need to become divisions. Wrexham is home to people with many different histories, cultures, experiences and traditions. They are part of our shared community, and everyone should be able to participate in community life without being made to feel that they do not belong.
But positive messages alone are not enough.
We also need to be able to talk about racism honestly. We need to listen when people describe their experiences, challenge misinformation and prejudice, and find constructive ways to respond when racism appears in our conversations, workplaces, schools and communities.
Those conversations can be difficult. People may worry about saying the wrong thing, making matters worse or not knowing how to respond when someone expresses a prejudiced view. Having the confidence and practical skills to engage constructively is an important part of building stronger communities.
That is why opportunities to learn from others, share experiences and develop practical approaches matter.

Belonging is something we build together
TCC is a fiercely apolitical community organisation. Our focus is not on party politics, but on the values that allow people to live and work alongside one another with dignity, respect and a shared sense of belonging.
We believe that challenging racism is part of that work. So is creating opportunities for people to meet, listen, learn and recognise what they share, even when their backgrounds or experiences differ.
We encourage people across Wrexham, including community groups, organisations, volunteers and anyone interested in these questions, to consider attending.
