TCC Strategy Meeting: Working Together to Shape What Comes Next

youth assembly

How can we build on the work already happening across our communities and create meaningful opportunities for people to shape what happens next?

That will be the central question when Together Creating Communities (TCC) holds its next strategy meeting on Wednesday 4 November 2026, bringing together young leaders, member groups and colleagues at Lle Hapus, Eagles Meadow, Wrexham.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to reflect on recent work, hear directly from young leaders, review the progress of current campaigns and partnerships, and agree practical next steps.

Importantly, the aim is not simply to share updates. It is to identify where people and organisations can work together, what support is needed and what commitments can be made to move the work forward.

Young leaders put youth mental health in the spotlight

One of the central items will be a presentation from young leaders Phoebe and Anex about youth mental health and TCC’s youth assemblies.

They will share what young people have told us, what has emerged through the assemblies, what young leaders have learned and what they believe needs to change.

The discussion that follows will focus on their call to action.

What are young people asking TCC’s member groups and partners to do? How can organisations support the next stage without taking over? And what concrete commitments can people make?

The intention is to agree a clear call to action and identify who can help take it forward.

Giving young people the opportunity to share their experiences is important. Ensuring those experiences can inform decisions and lead to practical action is equally vital.

Celebrating community organising

The meeting will also recognise TCC’s achievement in being named a finalist in the Most Influential Small Organisation category at the Welsh Charity Awards 2026.

Alongside celebrating this recognition, the group will discuss a proposal for the award to travel between TCC member groups during the year.

The idea is to give different groups the opportunity to host the award in their own setting, whether that is a place of worship, a school or a community venue.

Each visit could also provide an opportunity to share a local story about TCC, community organising or the difference people have made by working together.

The meeting will consider whether to take this idea forward and invite expressions of interest from member groups.

Ffair Cymru and Belonging in Our Community

Following Wrecsam Ffair, the meeting will reflect on the event’s contribution to TCC’s Belonging in Our Community campaign.

Ffair Cymru brought people together through a shared public event. The strategy discussion will consider what value that created, whether it helped build new relationships, and whether it opened up useful opportunities for participation, visibility and public action.

It will also consider what was less useful, what could be improved and how Ffair Cymru should relate to the next stage of the campaign.

Should it become a central part of the campaign, remain one of several opportunities for engagement, or be treated as a separate initiative?

These are questions for discussion, with the aim of agreeing a practical next step based on what has been learned.

Updates on current campaigns and partnerships

The meeting will also receive an update on Pride in Place, including TCC’s involvement, representation and how community voices—including young people and member groups—can help shape the work.

There will be an update on Schools of Sanctuary, exploring progress with schools, opportunities for further engagement and where introductions or support from member groups could help.

The ARFID campaign will also be discussed, including recent activity, the issues being raised by young people and families, and the next actions needed.

Across these areas, the focus will be on identifying priorities, recognising opportunities for collaboration and agreeing who will take particular actions forward.

From discussion to practical commitments

A common thread runs through the agenda: making sure that conversations lead somewhere.

By the end of the meeting, TCC hopes to have:

  • Agreed a practical call to action following the youth mental health presentation.
  • Established whether and how the Welsh Charity Award could travel between member groups.
  • Assessed the value of Ffair Cymru to Belonging in Our Community and agreed the next step.
  • Confirmed TCC’s position and representation within Pride in Place.
  • Identified immediate priorities for Schools of Sanctuary and the ARFID campaign.
  • Recorded clear actions, named leads, supporting organisations and timescales for reviewing progress.

This approach reflects the importance of shared responsibility. Community organising is not simply about bringing people into a room or giving them an opportunity to speak. It is also about creating the conditions for people to influence decisions, develop leadership and work together towards change.

TCC’s member groups have their own experience, relationships and knowledge of the communities they serve. Bringing those perspectives together can help identify opportunities that no single organisation could develop alone.

The strategy meeting is an opportunity to build on those strengths and agree what happens next.

The ambition is straightforward: listen carefully, learn from experience and turn shared priorities into practical action.

The TCC strategy meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 November 2026, from 6.30pm, at Lle Hapus, Eagles Meadow, Wrexham.
