TCC named finalist in prestigious Welsh Charity Awards 2026

Wrexham, September 2026

Together Creating Communities (TCC) has been named a finalist in the Most Influential Small Organisation category at the Welsh Charity Awards 2026.

The announcement was made this week by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), which organises the Welsh Charity Awards to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by charities, community groups, not-for-profit organisations and volunteers across Wales.

TCC was originally nominated for the award earlier this year and has now been selected as one of the finalists in a category which recognises “small but mighty” organisations with an annual income of under £250,000 that are making a significant impact through their work.

For TCC, the recognition comes at the end of an exceptionally busy period for the organisation.

The past few months have seen the team working across a wide range of community-led campaigns and projects, alongside the planning and delivery of Wrexham Ffair, a three-day community event bringing people together in the centre of Wrexham.

TCC’s work has also included tackling poverty, youth organising, mental health, accessibility, ARFID awareness, community accountability and its Belonging in our Community work.

The organisation says that becoming a finalist is particularly welcome after such an intensive period of work.

The finalist position is also recognition of the wider network of people involved in TCC’s work.

TCC works alongside community members, campaign leaders, volunteers, partner organisations and funders, with lived experience and community knowledge playing an important role in shaping its work.

The organisation believes that much of community organising happens away from the spotlight – through conversations, relationships, listening, supporting people to develop their own confidence and creating opportunities for communities to influence the decisions that affect their lives.

For TCC, the award nomination and subsequent finalist position provide an opportunity to recognise that work and the people behind it.

TCC Co-Manager Ruth Marshall said:

“TCC exists because ordinary people have extraordinary power when they come together. TCC is not just a charity, it is our neighbours, schools, faith groups, community organisations and local people choosing to work together for social justice. This nomination is a celebration of that collective power: people listening deeply, sharing their stories, building relationships and imagining a fairer future for North East Wales. At a time when it can feel like political noise and social division dominate the conversation, community organising offers something different. It brings people together across differences, strengthens communities and creates lasting change. To be recognised in this way is a real honour, not for TCC alone, but for every person and community that has helped shape this work.”

The Welsh Charity Awards are organised by WCVA and provide a national platform for celebrating the contribution of Wales’s voluntary sector. The 2026 awards ceremony will take place on 15 October 2026 in Cardiff.

TCC will attend the ceremony alongside the other finalists from across Wales.

Whatever the outcome on the night, the organisation says it is proud to have reached the final and grateful to everyone who has contributed to its work.
