TCC 30th Anniversary Celebration

TCC Celebrates 30 Years of Community Organising Across North Wales

14 November 2025

TCC (Trefnu Cymunedol Cymru / Together Creating Communities) marked a significant milestone this week as the organisation celebrated its 30th anniversary with an event at Wrexham Memorial Hall. Members, partners, and supporters from across North Wales gathered to reflect on three decades of grassroots organising and to recognise the impact of collective community action since TCC’s founding in 1995.

The event featured a series of reflective presentations, highlight videos, and personal stories illustrating the organisation’s long-term commitment to empowering local people to identify issues, take action, and work collaboratively for positive change.

A central part of the evening was the 30th Anniversary Awards Ceremony, which acknowledged exceptional contributions from individuals and groups across the region. Award recipients included:

  • Community Champion Awards – Jane Townend and Margie Pearce
  • Community Outreach Champion Award – Penycae Church of the Nazarene
  • Outstanding Youth Contribution Award – St Joseph’s Catholic and Anglican High School
  • Environmental Action Award – Rob Owen
  • Campaign of the Year Award – Flintshire Coastal Path Accessibility
  • Reflection and Recognition Award – Dr Farookh Jishi

Attendees also heard from The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron, Patron of TCC, who emphasised the organisation’s purpose and long-standing approach to community organising:

“People have the right and authority to shape their own future, and TCC is an organisation which works to help people to take power and hold those in authority to account on issues that they hold dear.”

A highlight of the evening was the specially produced featurette video, capturing the spirit of TCC over the past 30 years. The video weaves together archival footage, interviews with long-standing members, and moments from the anniversary celebration itself, offering viewers a vivid journey through the organisation’s history. From early grassroots initiatives to recent community campaigns, the featurette beautifully illustrates TCC’s enduring commitment to empowering local people and driving meaningful change across North Wales.

Visitors can also explore a gallery of photos from the anniversary event, showcasing the evening’s memorable moments. The gallery includes images of award recipients, speakers, performances, and the many supporters who attended to celebrate three decades of community action. Each photo tells a story of collaboration, achievement, and connection, providing a visual record of TCC’s ongoing impact in communities throughout North Wales.

The anniversary celebration not only recognised past achievements but also looked ahead to TCC’s future work, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to building people power and supporting community-led change across North Wales.
