Humanity Project Film Highlights the Growing Power of Community Voices

David Hughes leading the charge

A new film from the Humanity Project is shining a spotlight on how communities across the UK are coming together to shape the future of the places where they live.

Love + Power follows people in Wrexham, Oswestry, Manchester, Haringey and Luton who are helping develop a new culture of People’s Assemblies—bringing residents together to discuss the issues that matter most, find common ground and take collective action.

The film explores how listening, deliberation and shared decision-making can help rebuild trust, strengthen communities and ensure that more people have a voice in the decisions affecting their lives.

The Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) is proud to feature in the film, reflecting the work taking place locally to ensure lived experience helps shape future action on poverty and inequality.

Funded by the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, WPAC brings together Together Creating Communities (TCC), Citizens Advice Wrexham, Wrexham Foodbank and a growing network of community organisations committed to placing community voices at the heart of decision-making.

The themes explored throughout Love + Power closely reflect the collaboration’s own approach of listening first, understanding lived experience and working collectively to develop practical solutions that strengthen communities.

As WPAC continues developing its community manifesto and prepares for its Tackling Poverty Assembly, the Humanity Project film provides a powerful reminder that lasting change begins with conversation, participation and shared responsibility.

We would like to thank the Humanity Project for allowing us to share this inspiring film and encourage everyone to take a few minutes to watch it.
