Voices from the Tackling Poverty Assembly: Emily Morton Highlights the Importance of Working Together
The Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) continues its Voices from the Tackling Poverty Assembly series with the opening address from Emily Morton, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Wrexham.
Speaking at the Assembly, Emily reflected on the changing nature of the challenges facing local people, describing how Citizens Advice Wrexham is supporting increasing numbers of people with increasingly complex issues.
Her message was clear: no single organisation can address these challenges alone.
Instead, she spoke about the importance of organisations working in partnership, sharing knowledge and bringing together different skills and experiences to better support local communities.
As one of the three organisations that form the WPAC steering group alongside Together Creating Communities (TCC) and Wrexham Foodbank, Citizens Advice Wrexham plays a key role in ensuring lived experience is central to conversations about tackling poverty.
Emily explained that collaboration is no longer simply beneficialāit is essential.
Working together enables organisations to respond more effectively to the complex realities facing individuals and families across Wrexham, while strengthening the collective voice calling for long-term change.
The Tackling Poverty Assembly brought together more than 70 participants, including community organisations, people with lived experience, Members of the Senedd and local stakeholders, all committed to turning lived experience into meaningful action.
Emily’s address forms part of a growing series of videos capturing the voices and perspectives that helped shape the Assembly.
