Suzanne Nantcurvis Reflects on Hunger, Partnership and the Importance of Community Voices

The Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) is pleased to share a powerful video message from Suzanne Nantcurvis, Chair of Trustees at Wrexham Foodbank.

Recorded ahead of the WPAC Tackling Poverty Assembly, Suzanne’s address was played during the event while she was away on holiday, ensuring her reflections formed part of the day’s conversations about poverty, lived experience and community-led change.

In her message, Suzanne thanks Together Creating Communities (TCC) for helping to develop the campaigning skills that brought organisations together through the collaboration. She also recognises the vital support of the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, whose funding has enabled the Captured Lived Experience programme, and acknowledges the ongoing partnership between Wrexham Foodbank, Citizens Advice Wrexham and TCC as the steering group behind WPAC.

Perhaps Suzanne’s most powerful message is a simple one:

“There should be no excuse for hunger in today’s society.”

Her address highlights the importance of listening to the experiences of people affected by poverty and ensuring that communities play a central role in shaping future solutions.

The WPAC Tackling Poverty Assembly brought together more than 70 participants from community organisations, public services, elected representatives and people with lived experience to explore how those voices can be translated into meaningful action across North East Wales.

Suzanne’s contribution reflects the values that underpin the collaboration—partnership, compassion and a shared commitment to creating fairer communities.
