Claire Taylor Shares the Voices Behind the Statistics
The latest video in our Voices from the Tackling Poverty Assembly series features Claire Taylor from Rebuild with Hope, one of the organisations supported through the Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) Captured Lived Experience Grant programme.
Thanks to funding from the Lloyds Foundation, Rebuild with Hope has been working with people who face significant barriers to employment and opportunity, creating safe, trusted spaces where individuals can talk openly about the challenges affecting their lives.
During the Assembly, Claire shared some of the experiences gathered through this work.
One comment captured the attention of everyone in the room:
“Everything was being outpaced by the cost of living.”
Although only a few words, the statement reflects the reality facing many households, where wages, benefits and support struggle to keep pace with rising prices and everyday costs.
Stories like these are central to the work of WPAC.
Rather than relying solely on statistics, the collaboration is bringing together lived experiences from organisations across Wrexham to build a richer understanding of poverty and ensure that future decisions are informed by the voices of the people most affected.
Rebuild with Hope’s findings form part of the growing body of evidence that will help shape the WPAC Manifesto and future conversations with decision-makers across North East Wales.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue sharing contributions from organisations that participated in the Tackling Poverty Assembly, highlighting the experiences, insights and ideas helping shape community-led action across Wrexham.
