Panedeni at Wrecsam Ffair: Music Without Borders

Music has a way of bringing people together, even when they don’t share the same language or musical background.

Panedeni brought that spirit to Wrecsam Ffair 2026, blending Welsh and Arabic influences with folk and world music traditions in a performance that reflected the event’s celebration of creativity, culture and community.

Led by Yasmine Latkowski, Panedeni draws on several musical and linguistic traditions, including Welsh, Arabic, English and Bosnian. Rather than keeping those influences separate, the group brings them together to create something distinctive.

Even the name tells a story. Paned is Welsh for a cup of tea, while Adeni refers to tea from Yemen. Two traditions, brought together in one name.

Different traditions, something to share

Wrecsam Ffair brought together performers, community groups and activities from a wide range of backgrounds and interests. Panedeni’s music was a reminder that cultural exchange doesn’t have to be complicated: sometimes it begins with listening.

We don’t need to understand every word or recognise every musical influence to appreciate what someone brings to a performance. Curiosity and a willingness to listen can be enough to begin making a connection.

That sits comfortably alongside TCC’s Belonging in Our Community campaign. We want Wrexham to be a place where people can share their traditions, experiences and talents, while recognising that they are part of the same community.

Belonging doesn’t mean everyone has to be alike. It means making room for different voices and discovering what happens when they come together.

Thank you to Panedeni for being part of Wrecsam Ffair 2026 and helping make its programme of music and creativity so varied.

Different traditions. Different voices. Music to share.

We have more in common than we think.
