Wrexham Ffair – Day 1: Thursday 17 September

Thursday 17 September | Eagles Meadow & Lle Hapus, Wrexham

Three days of Wrexham Ffair begin on Thursday 17 September, with a day packed with creativity, conversation, making, books and spoken word.

There will be plenty happening throughout the day, with activities taking place across Eagles Meadow and Lle Hapus.

Start the Ffair with creativity

The day begins with the Members Expo and creative workshops, giving visitors an opportunity to meet some of the people and organisations involved in making the Ffair happen.

From lunchtime, Wrexham Sewing Studio will be running a Community Bunting Workshop. Come along, get creative and help make something that can become part of the Ffair itself.

It’s a great example of what we mean by community: not simply coming along to watch, but having the opportunity to make, contribute and be part of what is happening.

Books, stories and ARFID awareness

From 2pm, Wrexham Bookworm will be at Lle Hapus, bringing books and creativity into the programme.

ARFIDandMe will also be joining us during the afternoon, raising awareness of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and sharing an important message about understanding people through lived experience.

ARFID awareness is part of TCC’s wider work with ARFIDandMe. Our approach is about looking beyond labels and recognising the person behind them.

Understanding starts with listening.

Write it. Say it. Share it.

From 4pm, Llangollen Spoken Word will be running a Creative Writing Workshop at Lle Hapus.

Whether you’re already a writer or simply curious about putting some thoughts onto paper, the workshop offers an opportunity to explore writing and creativity together.

Then, from 6pm, Lle Hapus will host an evening of Spoken Word, bringing together voices, stories and ideas.

It’s a fitting way to end the first day of the Ffair: people coming together and sharing something of themselves.

More than an event

Wrexham Ffair is part of TCC’s wider Belonging in Our Community work.

But you don’t have to come along because you are interested in a campaign.

You can come because you like books.

You can come because you want to make something.

You can come to learn about ARFID.

You can come to write.

You can come to listen to spoken word.

Or you can simply come along, meet people and enjoy yourself.

That’s the point.

Community doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes it’s simply about creating the opportunity for people to be together.
