Lloyds Foundation Features Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration in New Video
The Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) is proud to have been featured in a newly released video produced by the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales.
Funded by the Lloyds Foundation, WPAC brings together Together Creating Communities (TCC), Citizens Advice Wrexham, Wrexham Foodbank and a network of community organisations working directly alongside residents affected by poverty and the cost-of-living crisis.
Earlier this year, representatives from Lloyds Foundation visited Wrexham to meet members of the collaboration, learn more about the work being delivered through the Captured Lived Experience Grant programme, and hear directly from organisations supporting local communities. The resulting film highlights the importance of community-led organisations in listening to residents, gathering lived experience evidence and helping shape future solutions.

Connecting Local Experience with a National Vision
The feature comes at an important point in the development of the collaboration.
Through funding provided by the Lloyds Foundation, local organisations have been engaging residents through workshops, interviews, creative sessions and community discussions to better understand the challenges people are facing in their daily lives.
As reports from across the collaboration are reviewed, many of the issues being raised by Wrexham residents closely mirror the priorities identified within the Lloyds Foundation’s In a Good Place strategy.
The Foundation’s vision is that everyone in England and Wales should be able to say they are:
- In a good place personally
- In a home that is a good place to live
- In a community that is a good place to belong to
These priorities are reflected through three key pillars:
Personal Resilience
The strategy highlights the importance of financial resilience and digital inclusion.
Across the WPAC reports received so far, residents have described:
- Financial insecurity and constant cost-of-living pressures
- Anxiety around benefits and household finances
- Difficulties accessing digital services
- Challenges navigating increasingly online systems
These experiences demonstrate the importance of supporting people before they reach crisis point and ensuring they can access the tools and support needed to thrive.
Housing
The Foundation recognises that everyone should have access to a safe, secure and affordable home.
Housing has emerged as one of the strongest themes across the lived experience work, with residents describing:
- Cold and damp homes
- Delayed repairs and poor housing conditions
- Rising rents and housing insecurity
- Concerns around affordability and future housing stability
These experiences highlight the importance of safe and secure housing as the foundation for wellbeing and opportunity.

Community Belonging
The third pillar focuses on creating communities where people feel connected, valued and able to belong.
One of the strongest messages emerging from the collaboration is the vital role played by community organisations, volunteers, faith groups and local support networks.
Participants consistently describe community spaces, support groups, warm hubs, coffee mornings and cultural organisations as places where they find connection, dignity, support and hope.
Many participants report that they cope because of community organisations and the relationships they build through them.
Community-Led Change
At the heart of the Lloyds Foundation strategy is a commitment to “connecting and catalysing community-led change.”
This ambition closely reflects the approach being taken through WPAC.
The collaboration is not only gathering evidence about poverty and inequality; it is creating opportunities for communities themselves to shape the conversation about what needs to change.
Alongside reviewing individual reports, the collaboration is now exploring how the findings can be brought together into a collective community manifesto. The aim is to identify common themes, shared priorities and practical actions that can help create fairer systems and stronger communities across Wrexham.

Looking Ahead
The insights gathered through the Captured Lived Experience Grant programme will continue to be shared as reports are completed and reviewed.
These findings will help inform the development of a community-led manifesto and contribute to discussions at the proposed Tackling Poverty Community Assembly on 3 July 2026.
The Assembly will provide an opportunity for residents, community organisations and stakeholders to come together, reflect on what has been learned, and help shape priorities for future action.
The release of the Lloyds Foundation video is an important recognition of the work taking place across Wrexham and of the value of community-led organisations in helping people build personal resilience, access better housing and strengthen community belonging.
We would like to thank the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales for its continued support of the collaboration and for helping amplify the voices and experiences of communities across Wrexham.
