Looking Back—and Looking Ahead

Over recent weeks we’ve shared presentations from community leaders, partner organisations and people with lived experience who took part in the Wrexham Poverty Action Collaboration (WPAC) Tackling Poverty Assembly.

Each speaker brought a different perspective, but together they told a remarkably consistent story about the challenges facing communities across Wrexham—and the determination of local people and organisations to respond.

Today we’re pleased to share a short highlights film capturing the atmosphere of the Assembly itself.

More than 70 people attended, representing community organisations, charities, volunteers, people with lived experience, elected representatives and public bodies, all coming together with a shared purpose: turning lived experience into meaningful action.

Throughout the day, conversations explored housing, food insecurity, transport, income, wellbeing, inclusion and the vital role of community organisations. Participants also celebrated the resilience, generosity and determination that exists across Wrexham’s communities.

The discussions, together with the evidence gathered through the Captured Lived Experience Grant Programme, are now helping shape a community-led manifesto that will support future conversations with decision-makers and encourage practical action to tackle poverty across North East Wales.

This highlights video brings our Assembly coverage to a close, but the work continues.

In the months ahead, WPAC will continue developing the manifesto, strengthening partnerships and working with communities and decision-makers to help create fairer systems and lasting change.
