Strong Turnout for Mental Health Voices Collaboration Launch in Wrexham

A successful community event held on Thursday 14th May at Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham marked the official launch of the Mental Health Voices Collaboration (MHVC) campaign, bringing together a wide range of organisations, professionals, and individuals committed to improving mental health support across Wrexham.

Delivered in partnership with TCC (Trefnu Cymunedol Cymru/Together Creating Communities), Advance Brighter Futures, a mental health support charity and member group of TCC, is leading the development of the MHVC campaign. The initiative is centred on listening to real experiences, encouraging open and honest conversations, and working collaboratively to shape positive change in how mental health support is delivered locally.

“The day really showed the strength that exists within our communities when people come together. We heard honest, powerful conversations from people with lived experience, organisations, carers, and professionals, all wanting to be part of positive change.

The Mental Health Voices Collaboration (MHVC) is about making sure those voices don’t just get heard, but that they help shape what happens next. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came along, shared their experiences, and supported the launch. This feels like the beginning of something really important for Wrexham.”

— Zoe Whitehead, Business Development Officer, Advance Brighter Futures

The drop-in launch event welcomed attendees from across the mental health and community sector, alongside people with lived experience, carers, and those supporting others. It created a safe and welcoming space for people to share their views, reflect on current services, and explore what changes are needed to better support the community.

Participants heard about the key themes and insights gathered so far through the campaign, alongside opportunities to contribute further. The focus remained firmly on ensuring that real voices, from every angle, are heard and acted upon.

A wide range of organisations attended the launch, demonstrating strong partnership commitment to improving mental health outcomes in Wrexham. These included:

Housing Justice, Llangollen Foodshare, AVOW, Mental Health Motorbike, Citizens Advice Bureau, CANIAD, Groundwork, DASU, ASNEW, Rainbow Foundation, Bloomers, EYST Wrexham, WeMindTheGap, We Are Plas Madoc, 2wish, Andy’s Man Club Wrexham

Stephen Kenyon-Owen of TCC Wales said:

“It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from across the community and mental health focused organisations today. The Mental Health Voices Collaboration is about making sure people feel heard, valued, and involved in shaping the support they receive. The more voices we bring together, the stronger this campaign becomes.”

The campaign is continuing to gather feedback through an online form, allowing individuals to share their experiences and insights at any time:
