At our final Strategy meeting of 2024, TCC created a Social Justice Christmas Tree. The base of the tree represents our diverse community here in Wrexham.
We believe diversity is important because it brings awareness of all different minds and conditions of people. If people didn’t understand diversity, the world would be a mess; people would be racist , sexist, and wouldn’t accept their peers. Diversity is important because it teaches us to respect one another and listen.
When we respect diversity, the community acts as one and the circuit or chain between all of us is unbroken. The world is divided because we don't accept people because of something they cannot help or change, but we are all worthy!
The garland represents people and places, especially those who can't express themselves. Everybody has a place in this world.
The ornaments represent issues of social justice, such as: mental health awareness, anti-racism , homelessness, poverty, gender bias, anti-bullying, LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, affordable housing, and justice for all, to name a few.
The tree is topped with a dove, representing peace and the hope that we can make the world a better place. The gifts below the tree are qualities we at TCC bring to the world: loyalty, respect, and kindness. Ultimately the tree represents the community we want in the future.
The tree will be on display in Wrexham Methodist Church, Regent St - from 11th December.
