On the day that the new Living Wage rate has been announced, TCC met with Flintshire Council leaders, urging them to pay the Living Wage to their employees.

The new rate, announced on 5th November, is £7.45 an hour. This figure has been calculated as actually enough to afford the cost of living in the UK. Minimum wage however is currently £6.19 for those over 21.

TCC has been campaigning for a Living Wage for several years, and has recently also met with Wrexham Council.

TCC member Moya Dunbar said “We felt the meeting was very positive, and we were pleased to find that the Councillors supported the principles behind the Living Wage. We will be looking to work with Flintshire County Council over the next few months, and hope they will soon be able to become a Living Wage employer.”
